This week we have our first site user who has recorded over 1000 miles walked ! We also passed our 10,000 walks milestone ! But it isn't all about big numbers, the sun is starting to appear and walking events are springing up everywhere.
We are all celebrating at Walk England as we have leapt past the 10,000 walks mark. This is fantastic news, and of course is down you lot who have been using the site and adding your walks. One of our favourite people is our first user to have clocked up 1000 walked miles ! The same person obviously loves the site, and has added over 150 walks ! Thank you, whoever you are ! Make sure you answer our survey and have the chance to win a holiday - you deserve one !
Pick and Mix !
We all know about pick and mix sweets, tempting but always expensive, and very bad for you - but there is now an alternative - Pick and Mix Walks ! The pick and mix idea is the brainchild of Chris and Roger Sewell of Goole, in Yorkshire.
The first Goole Pick and Mix Walk took place on a rainy Bank Holiday Monday. Despite the weather, 110 walkers took part in the event, organised by Goole District Lions Club and the Pick and Mix Walks Project. Walkers selected their routes from a choice of 1,2,3 or 4 mile routes, joining them together to form longer walks if they wished. in total 455 miles were walked, the equivalent to walking from Goole to Dover, crossing the channel then walking to Koblenz in Germany, Dijon in France or Luxemburg. Pretty impressive!
If you live near Goole and want to join in next time, or if you like the idea and fancy setting up your own scheme yo can find out more from the pick and mix walks website.
