Walk England own and manage this website, and is committed to protecting your privacy, in accordance with The Data Protection Act 1998.

We know that no one likes to give their personal information away, we have designed the site to collect as little data as possible – in fact we don’t collect enough for us or anyone else to be able to identify you.

We ask for a username and email address so that you can register. We do not ask for your name, or any other identifying information. We ask for your postcode so that we can see where you come from. You do not have to enter any other information about yourself, although you can choose to do so.

If you use the walking fitness test you will need to enter your gender, date of birth and weight. This data is only used to calculate the fitness test result.

We use the data we collect to build a summary of how the website is being used, and to report back to the Department of Health. We report on summary data not on individual users.

The site uses Cookies. Cookies are small files of information which save and retrieve information about your visit to our site - for example, how you entered our site, how you navigated through the site, and what information was of interest to you. The cookies we use identify you merely as a number. We don’t pass the information we collect on to anyone else, unless you have said we can. If you have agreed to be contacted by Change4Life, or Walk England, you may be sent an email asking you to complete a survey at some point in the future. Apart from this we will only use your email to send you your password if you ask us to.

This site contains links to other websites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other sites. It also contains material added by the public. If you have concerns about any of the material on the site please report them to us.

We have access to all walking routes submitted to the site . This information is accessed via a secure password protected area. We will only access these routes to monitor the functioning of the website and the app . The route information is only accessed by the website Master account and is not passed on to any 3rd parties.
