The summer holidays are starting, which means only one thing – it’s nearly Walk4Life Day !

This year the country will be celebrating walking, and all the many benefits of walking, on Walk4Life Day on 25th September.

Parks, school holidays, and sunshine

It's raining, which must mean the school holidays are about to start. There are a couple of ways you can look at this, I like to think the rain is here now, so that the grass is all nice and green for the children to play on in the six weeks of unbroken sunshine to follow.

NHS staff challenge

The NHS, as we all know, work very hard to keep us healthy - but as an organisation they are also committed to improving the health of their own staff.  In 2009 Dr Boorman produced a report on NHS staff health and well-being, and set an activity challenge to encourage everyone to become involved in physical activity and to act a role model to patients. Physical activity includes sport and organised activities, but of course walking also counts - which is why the NHS walking challenge has been launched.

Walk with the National Trust
6th July 2011

The National Trust are working with Walk4Life and are plotting walks to encourage people to walk more on their properties. In particular the South West region have been very active in identifying walks that show off some of the fabulous countryside owned and managed by the Trust.

Lovely parks
4th July 2011

This month sees a celebration of our country's wonderful parks - 23rd to 31st July is Love Your Park week. When the sun is shining, and the flowers are out, parks provide a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the British summer, which is why we're happy to support the celebrations.
