When do you walk?

As regular readers of the Blog will know we launched our iphone app a few weeks ago.  We've been keeping an eye on the routes added through the app just to make sure it is working properly and we've discovered some interesting patterns.

10,000 and rising

This morning we reached the magic 10,000 members number, as the emails zipped around the Walk4Life team we realised it is still going up, as I write this there are already 10,010.  We've also made a few changes to the groups area on the site which we hope will improve the experience of being in a group. There are other, much bigger, changes to walking groups also announced today.

This week I heard about an interesting study on walking speeds which it’d be fun to share here on the blog. 

Researchers found that if you can walk faster than 3 miles an hour then the Grim Reaper can’t catch up with you!  In a light-hearted way, it seems the Grim Reaper can’t walk that fast!

Migraine, depression and walking

I recently read an article that linked migraine with depression - it seems that women who suffer migraines are more likley to suffer depression. As a migraine sufferer that is not news to me. I smiled at the thought that doctors are being urged to remember this when talking to patients about their migraine, and to offer advice on dealing with depression. I wondered how many would think of suggesting walking to help.
