Walking to recycling!

Yesterday I met someone at the library and we got chatting about walking. He admitted to he had driven to the library because he had glass to drop off at the recycling! What a missed opportunity for a short local walk - with the added bonus of working the arm muscles! Of course the trick is to recycle fairly often, so it doesn't build up to be more than it is possible to carry ...

Olympic Flame

Has the Olympic Flame come near you yet? Yesterday on the radio I heard a phone-in and many people seemed to feel positively about the Flame visiting communities all over the country and celebrating local people’s achievements. As I write, the Torch is nearly half-way through its 70 day journey!

Thermal Walks in London

The Kent School of Architecture is looking for people to join them for a walk in central London on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 June.  If you are interested in exploring our unconscious reaction to the environmental conditions around us as we walk and the way we perceive and respond to them, then join on the thermal walks.

Interesting uses for maps

Recently on our sister Walk London facebook site, we asked how people prepare for a walk and if they like to walk with a map. I was so surprised at the number of replies from people who dash out of the house and wander down a promoted route, and perhaps if they miss a sign post or two they read a bit more at home then go back another day to carry on!
