January was our busiest month ever! We had over 80,000 visits last month. The number of walks on the site, and the number of people signing up keeps on increasing, we're delighted! It just goes to show that a lot of you must have made New Year Resolutions to walk more - and we're here to help you keep them through February, especially you under-55s who we know are not keeping up with your elders in the activity stakes.
A recent article in the Daily Mail reveals that the over 55s are more active than people half their age, doing half an hour more exercise a week, and their favourite avtivity ? Walking of course.
Interestingly young people also pick walking as their favourite activity, along with dancing. We all know that regular exercise is good for us - we have written about it in the Blog before, but the facts can appear very dull.
My favourite summary of the benefits is a short video - it is very well worth watching all the way through - I know I think about it every time I feel a bit lethargic and don't fancy going out for a walk ... The clip is here - I think it should be on the National Curriculum - that should get those inactive 18-29 year olds thinking a bit more about their health.
So if you made a resolution to be more active this year, and it is starting to feel less important, watch the video, get your coat and take a walk in the wonderful frosty winter sunshine.
