| Walk Description: | The route uses the River Lea Path, and crosses: the Capital Ring; Jubilee Greenway; Thames Path. There will be a break for a light lunch at Three Mills, and there are a number of other places for refreshments and toilets on route. The route is flat and crosses only one road! On the way we will see: Walthamstow Marshes (ancient lammas lands, and the site of the first manned flight in Britain); Middlesex Filter Beds (now a nature reserve); Hackney Marshes (largest collection of football pitches in Europe); the Olympic Park (extensive views); a grade I listed tidal mill; a new, floating towpath below the A11/A12 junction; 7 listed gas holders; a Hawksmoor church; an old dog food factory! |
