|---|---|
| Region & County: | Worcestershire, West Midlands |
When is it?
| Date: | 20th May 2012 - Recurs weekly |
|---|---|
| Start Time: | 10:30 |
What kind of walk is it?
| Walk Description: | Free Wyre Forest Health Walks take place twice weekly in the Wyre Forest as part of the national Walking for Health Scheme. Health walks in the forest start from the Wyre Forest Visitor Centre every Tuesday and Sunday morning. Meet at 10:30 am for an 11 am start. They are led by trained walk leaders and participants may be of all abilities. These events are specially designed for people who want to increase their walking fitness, for those who are getting back to walking after illness and for those who want to make friends and don't wish to walk by themselves. Each session begins with a warm up walk on flat ground, starting and finishing at the Visitor Centre. There is no danger of getting left behind because there is always a walk leader at the back of the group. The second walk is optional and is on steeper ground and involves some uphill sections. There is a part of each walk during which walkers are encouraged to walk more briskly to increase their fitness, but there is no pressure to keep up with the group and everyone walks at their own speed. Supported by the Forestry Commission and the Worcestershire Walking Network. |
