Has the Olympic Flame come near you yet? Yesterday on the radio I heard a phone-in and many people seemed to feel positively about the Flame visiting communities all over the country and celebrating local people’s achievements. As I write, the Torch is nearly half-way through its 70 day journey!
The Olympic Flame has already travelled all over the south-west, all around Wales, hopped over to Ireland, and has nearly finished visiting Scotland, including the Scottish Isles! As well as some pretty ingenious forms of travel along the way. This weekend it comes to the north-east – and preparations are underway as the Olympic Rings were mounted on the Tyne Bridge earlier. It is going to be zip-wired across the river!
There is a walk the torch challenge if you are interested – best joined as a group of you! Perhaps a school or a work team can form a group. Then see how your joint miles walked match with the distance the Flame travels every day! You can see each day’s Flame route. A great way to motivate each other! Also you can find details of the evening celebrations by searching in events.
We’d be really interested in any photos you may have of the Torch coming past you – it is easy to upload your photos to the Walk the Torch page.
