The very eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that a new word has appeared on the bottom navigation bar on our home page - "widget". What on earth is it, and what does it do ?
The widget is basically a search box you can put on your website which allows anyone to search for a walk. It provides a free walk-finder, with a direct link to this site.
It's easy to use, if you follow the link to the widget page you'll find simple instructions. You can alter the size and colour to make it fit your own website.
So, who might want one? Anyone who has a website that promotes walking, or anything where walking is relevant, but doesn't have the resources to have their own mapping facility might find a widget useful. Examples that spring to mind include holiday cottage owners, or campsite managers, local village or parish website promoting the area to walkers, as well as employers encouraging staff to walk more, walking for health groups, walking clubs, the list goes on.
So why not take a look and see if the widget works for you ?
Hot news - the widget is starting to appear on lots of websites ! The first to use it are the WWF for their Blue Mile campaign. (see the Walking on Water blog for more info).

This is also another website where the widget has been installed, a good example of the opening sentence being customised! www.is.gd/dgUsym

Thanks John - I'm really glad you like the widget. I hope it helps you and your fellow strollers find new places to walk.

It works for me! http://hambletonstrollers.org.uk - dropped straight into my template, so it appears on every page.
I tweaked the style a bit to make it fit better - as delivered it put a scroll bar on the bottom and had a bit too much space vertically, but these can easily be adjusted.
Keep up the good work!
John
